Bicycles, E-Bikes & Micromobility calculator

E-Bike Battery Pack Cost Calculator

Battery packs often drive the landed cost of e-bikes, cargo bikes, and scooters. This calculator helps product engineers, procurement leads, and estimators compare cell format, voltage, Ah, BMS, enclosure, charger, certification, and pack assembly cost assumptions for a build or quote.

What this calculator does

  • Estimate e-bike or scooter battery pack cost from pack count, pack cost basis, allocation share, and fixed tooling or test adders.
  • an e-bike, scooter, or micromobility team needs to cost battery packs for a production lot, launch build, or replacement battery program
  • Returns the estimated battery pack cost assigned to the selected vehicle build or program scope.

Formula used

  • Allocated variable battery cost = battery packs in build × landed cost per battery pack × pack cost allocation share
  • Total battery pack cost = allocated variable battery cost + fixed battery program cost

Inputs explained

  • Battery packs in build: Use the number of 36 V, 48 V, 52 V, scooter, cargo bike, or fleet battery packs in the estimate.
  • Landed cost per battery pack: Include cells, BMS, enclosure, wiring, charger allocation, freight, duty, and pack assembly if applicable.
  • Pack cost allocation share: Use 100% for the full build or allocate a share for a specific SKU, fleet, region, or customer program.
  • Fixed battery program cost: Add tooling, lab testing, PPAP, samples, pack fixtures, UN38.3 prep, or engineering charges not priced per pack.

How to use the result

  • Use it for SKU costing, supplier comparisons, battery option studies, fleet replacement planning, and quote reviews.
  • It does not calculate Wh, range, degradation, or compliance suitability; verify pack electrical, safety, and certification requirements separately.

Common questions

  • Should chargers be included? Include chargers if they are bundled with the vehicle or allocate them separately if they are sold or stocked independently.
  • Can I compare different voltages or capacities? Yes. Use landed cost per complete pack and document the Wh, Ah, voltage, BMS, and enclosure assumptions for each scenario.
  • Where should certification costs go? Put one-time or lot-level certification charges in the fixed battery program cost or use the battery certification calculator separately.
  • How can I use the result? Use it to update cost per e-bike or scooter, negotiate pack sourcing, and decide whether a higher-capacity pack fits margin targets.
