Conveyors calculator

Daily Capacity Calculator

Use this calculator when deciding whether the day's staffing, shift pattern, and line rate can meet demand. It turns planned cycles into good daily output after downtime and rejects.

What this calculator does

  • Calculate good units per day from units per cycle, available daily cycles, uptime, and yield.
  • a production planner needs a daily output commitment for a conveyorized line or assembly cell
  • The result estimates good units the line can complete in one day.

Formula used

  • Gross daily capacity = units per cycle × available cycles per day
  • Good daily capacity = gross daily capacity × uptime × yield

Inputs explained

  • Units completed per line cycle: Use one for single-piece flow or the multi-up quantity for fixtures or packs.
  • Available line cycles per day: Use cycles after breaks, planned stops, and the selected number of shifts.
  • Expected daily uptime: Use recent uptime for the line and SKU mix.
  • Expected good yield: Use first-pass good units after rejects and holds.

How to use the result

  • Use it for daily production plans, shipment promises, overtime checks, and staffing scenarios.
  • It does not include changeovers unless the cycle count or uptime assumption already includes them.

Common questions

  • What is Daily Capacity for? Calculate good units per day from units per cycle, available daily cycles, uptime, and yield.
  • What information do I need before using it? You need units per cycle, available cycles per day, expected uptime, and yield.
  • When is the result only an estimate? The result is an estimate when cycle count, uptime, or yield is based on targets rather than recent line data.
  • How can I use the result on the line? Use daily capacity to decide whether the plan fits the day or needs overtime, a second line, or reduced demand.
