- How do you calculate anodizing cost per part? Multiply the anodized surface area by the price per square foot, divide by first-pass acceptance (rejects are re-run), then add the seal and rack changeover cost. For 2.5 sq ft at $3.20 and 96% acceptance: 2.5 × 3.20 ÷ 0.96 + 1.50 = $9.83 per part.
- Why does the acceptance rate matter in anodizing cost? You only get paid for good parts, so a lower first-pass yield spreads the anodize spend over fewer sellable pieces. At 96% acceptance the variable cost lands at $7.68 rather than the full-rate $8.00.
