  • How do you calculate siding panel yield? Divide accepted siding area by issued or produced gross area and multiply by 100. With 14,200 sq ft accepted from 15,450 sq ft issued, yield is 14,200 / 15,450 x 100 = 91.91%.
  • What is a good siding yield percentage? Straight runs of vinyl or fiber-cement often hit 92% to 96% yield, but homes with many corners, gables, and openings run lower. The example's 91.91% is acceptable but sits 2.09 points under a 94% target.
  • Why does siding waste run higher on cut-up elevations? Corners, windows, doors, and gable rakes force angle cuts and short off-cuts that often cannot be reused, so accepted area falls relative to issued. That is why a complex elevation can miss a flat-wall yield target by several points.
