- How do you calculate pretreatment chemical cost? Multiply feedwater volume by the chemical cost per m³, scale by the dose scope included, then add fixed handling cost. With 100 m³ at $45/m³, 80% scope and $250 handling, the total is 100 × 45 × 0.80 + 250 = $3,850.
- What is the pretreatment chemical cost per m³ in the example? The $3,850 total across 100 m³ is $38.50 per m³, blending the variable dosing cost with the fixed handling charge.
- Why include a dose scope percentage? Your chemical program may have several products, but you may only want to cost the antiscalant and acid line here. The 80% scope in the example includes four-fifths of the per-m³ dosing cost.
