  • How do you calculate substrate yield? Divide rejected sheets by total sheets processed. With 8 scrapped out of 250, that is 8 / 250 = 3.2%. The good-yield side is the complement, 96.8%.
  • Is the 3.2% figure scrap or yield? In this tool the calculated rate is the affected (scrap) rate of 3.2%. Your good yield is 100% minus that, and the gap-to-target line shows how far the scrap rate sits from your reference number.
  • What is a good substrate scrap rate for signage? Many well-run wide-format and rigid shops hold total substrate scrap under 3 to 5%. At 3.2% you are in a healthy band, though premium acrylic and specialty stock often justify tighter targets.
  • Why does the gap to target read 91.8 points? It is the arithmetic difference between the 95% reference target and the 3.2% calculated rate. Treat it as a directional signal; interpret it against whether your target is expressed as a good-yield or a scrap ceiling.
