Common questions

  • How do you calculate shipment accuracy? Divide the count in your category by the total audited and multiply by 100. Here 8 / 250 x 100 = 3.2%. If 8 is your error count, that means a 3.2% error rate, or 96.8% accurate.
  • What is a good shipment accuracy rate? World-class outbound accuracy runs 99.5% or better; many contracts set 98-99%. Read the metric carefully — this tool reports the counted category, so an 8-of-250 error count is a 3.2% defect rate, not a passing accuracy figure.
  • What does the gap to target mean here? It is the difference between the computed rate and your target. With a 3.2% computed rate and a 95% target the gap shows as 91.8 points — a reminder to confirm whether you are measuring the error category or the accuracy category before interpreting.
  • How big should my audit sample be? Larger is tighter. At 250 shipments a single find shifts the rate by 0.4 points, so for a stable estimate near a 99% target you generally want several hundred to a few thousand shipments per period.
