Laser Welding vs TIG Welding
Laser welding focuses a kilowatt-class beam into a keyhole, fusing joints at 1 to 10 m/min with very low heat input. TIG melts the joint with a tungsten arc at 100 to 300 mm/min under full manual control. The trade is speed and low distortion against capital cost and fit-up forgiveness.

Common questions
Can a handheld laser welder replace TIG entirely?
No. Poor fit-up, thick multipass joints, and open-root pipe still favor TIG, and Class 4 laser safety restricts where the handheld unit can run. Treat handheld laser as a productivity tool for fitted thin-gauge seams, not a universal TIG replacement.
