Manufacturing KPI Dashboard Excel Template
Log a week of plant results in one row and see delivery, quality, productivity, equipment, cost and safety KPIs against your targets, with a weighted factory performance score.
Free, and a plain .xlsx with no macros to enable. A CSV with live formulas and a printed how-to guide come with it.
Overview
This manufacturing KPI dashboard is a working Excel scorecard for plant managers, operations managers and owners. Each week is one row of plant results, and the Dashboard turns them into on-time delivery, schedule attainment, first-pass yield, units per labour hour, equipment availability, scrap cost and recordable incidents, each against a target you set. It ships with a fictional fabrication plant's quarter, so every tile and chart is filled in the moment you open it.
The headline is a factory performance score: the weighted average of actual over target for on-time delivery, first-pass yield and units per labour hour, with weights that state your priorities. It is the same weighted-attainment formula as the Factory Performance Score calculator on this site, and 100 percent means all three are exactly on target. Every KPI over several weeks is formed from sums, so a quarter's on-time delivery is all orders on time over all orders shipped, not the average of thirteen weekly percentages.
In the example quarter a supplier's late steel pulls on-time delivery well below target in weeks five to seven, a new welding fixture lifts first-pass yield from week eight, and there is one recordable injury in week four. The score chart shows the dip and the recovery, and the line chart shows which of delivery and quality moved: the story a weekly review needs, on one page. Over the quarter the plant scores 99.9 percent, with on-time delivery at 94.0 percent against its 95 percent target and scrap cost above its limit. The download is a plain .xlsx with no macros. A CSV with live formulas is also included for other tools; the dashboard, charts and self-check are in the .xlsx.
What this template includes
- KPI Log table, one row per week: orders shipped and on time, units planned, made and good first time, labour hours, planned equipment hours, unplanned downtime, scrap cost, complaints and recordable incidents
- Per week: on-time delivery, schedule attainment, first-pass yield, units per labour hour, equipment availability and the week's factory performance score with a status word
- Factory performance score: the weighted attainment of your delivery, quality and productivity targets, with weights you set
- Check column that names data problems in words: orders on time above orders shipped, good above made, downtime above planned hours, a duplicate week
- Dashboard with a date filter and eight KPI tiles against your targets, including scrap cost in your currency and recordable incidents
- Two native charts: the factory performance score by week against target, and on-time delivery and first-pass yield by week
- Scorecard table (actual, target, attainment, weight) and a week-by-week table, all formed from sums rather than averaged percentages
- Method sheet with every formula, and a Verify sheet that re-checks the formulas against an independent reference (Self-check: PASS)
- CSV with live formulas for the KPI Log; the dashboard, charts, dropdowns and self-check are in the .xlsx
Suggested use case
Use it for the plant manager's weekly or monthly review: one row of numbers per week from the plant's systems, and a one-page dashboard that shows which targets were met, which were missed and how the factory scored overall.
How to use it
- On Setup, type your plant name and currency label, set a target for each KPI, and set the weights of delivery, quality and productivity in the score.
- Each week, add one row to the KPI Log from your shipping, production, labour, maintenance, scrap, complaint and safety records.
- Fix anything the Check column flags.
- Open the Dashboard for the review; use From and To to look at one month or a quarter.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How is the factory performance score calculated?
- Each of on-time delivery, first-pass yield and units per labour hour is divided by its target, and the three attainments are averaged with your weights. With 90, 95 and 80 percent attainment and weights of 40, 30 and 30, the score is 88.5 percent, the same as the Factory Performance Score calculator. 100 percent means all three are exactly on target.
- Why is the quarter's OTD not the average of the weekly OTDs?
- Because weeks differ in size. The workbook adds orders on time and orders shipped over the weeks in view and divides the sums. A week with 90 of 100 orders on time and a week with 118 of 120 give 208 of 220, or 94.5 percent, not the 94.2 percent average of the two weekly figures.
- Can I use months instead of weeks?
- Yes. Type the first day of each month in the Week starting column and the monthly totals in the other columns; every ratio works the same. Keep all rows the same kind of period so the week-by-week chart and the scrap limit (weekly limit times the rows in view) stay meaningful.
- Why are availability, scrap and safety not in the score?
- The score follows the calculator's three dimensions: delivery, quality and productivity. Availability, scrap cost, complaints and recordable incidents are shown beside it with their own targets, so a good score cannot hide a safety incident or a scrap problem.
- Does the template calculate an incident rate?
- No. It counts recordable incidents against a target of zero. An incident rate per 200,000 hours, as US OSHA defines it, needs all hours worked by all employees, which this log does not hold; the Safety Incident Log template does that calculation.
