Industrial Filtration, Separation & Dust Collection calculator
Mist Collector Mass Load Calculator
Estimate mist mass entering and leaving a collector over a run. Enter representative inlet concentration, actual airflow, measured removal and operating hours.
What this calculator does
- Estimate mist mass entering and leaving a collector over a run.
Formula used
- Inlet kg per hour = Airflow × Inlet mg per cubic meter ÷ 1,000,000
- Collected mass = Inlet rate × Hours × Removal % ÷ 100
- Uncollected mass = Inlet rate × Hours × (100 − Removal %) ÷ 100
Inputs explained
- Mist-Laden Airflow: Actual air volume flow through the collector.
- Inlet Mist Concentration: Representative inlet aerosol mass concentration at matching conditions.
- Measured Mist Removal: Measured mass removal for this aerosol and flow.
- Collection Runtime: Operating hours covered by the loading estimate.
How to use the result
- Best suited to mist drainage planning, aerosol loading comparisons.
- Vapor condensation, evaporation and droplet-size changes are excluded.
Common questions
- Can visible mist establish inlet concentration? No. Use an appropriate measured mass concentration; invisible droplets may still contribute to loading.
- Why use actual rather than standard airflow? Volume and concentration must share the same temperature and pressure basis.
- Is collected mass equal to drain-liquid volume? No. Liquid density, evaporation and retained inventory are needed to estimate drainage volume.
- Can I treat removal as a filter rating? Use measured performance for the actual aerosol distribution and operating flow.
