Industrial Cleaning, Washing & Parts Cleanliness calculator
Cleanliness Sample Pass Rate Calculator
Measure the pass rate within a defined set of cleanliness samples. Enter passing and tested counts from the same qualified method and acceptance criteria.
What this calculator does
- Compare the observed cleanliness sample pass fraction with your entered target.
Formula used
- Sample pass rate % = Passing samples ÷ Tested samples × 100
- Samples not passing = Tested samples − Passing samples
- Target margin = Sample pass rate % − Target %
Inputs explained
- Samples Passing Specification: Tested samples meeting all criteria in the selected pass definition.
- Total Samples Tested: Whole samples assessed under the same qualified inspection method.
- Sample Pass Target: Entered pass-rate target for this defined sample set.
How to use the result
- Best suited to cleanliness sample review, inspection target tracking.
- Sample pass fraction does not certify a production lot or establish a sampling plan.
Current U.S. benchmarks
- U.S. manufacturing runs at 75.7% of capacity (Federal Reserve, Aug 2026). New factory orders are up 8.5% year over year (Census).
Common questions
- Does this certify the entire lot? No. It summarizes the tested samples without a statistical lot-acceptance model or assurance about untested parts.
- What counts as a passing sample? Use the complete acceptance definition in your qualified method, including every required cleanliness criterion.
- Should retests replace original failures? Follow the reporting basis defined for your sample set. Do not silently remove failed observations to improve the displayed fraction.
- Why is zero tested samples blocked? A pass fraction needs at least one tested sample; no observed denominator exists when the count is zero.
