Bottling, Canning & Filling Lines calculator
Pack-Out Yield Calculator
Measure the share of available filled containers successfully packed. Enter counts from the same window and your pack-out yield target.
What this calculator does
- Compare accepted packed containers with the filled population supplied to pack-out.
Formula used
- Pack-out yield % = Packed containers ÷ Available filled containers × 100
- Not packed = Available filled containers − Packed containers
- Target margin = Yield % − Target %
Inputs explained
- Containers Successfully Packed: Whole filled containers accepted into cases or trays.
- Filled Containers Available: Comparable filled population supplied to the pack-out operation.
- Pack-Out Yield Target: Entered target for accepted packing from that supplied population.
How to use the result
- Best suited to pack-out yield reviews, filled product reconciliation.
- Unpacked containers may remain recoverable or in process.
Common questions
- Are unpacked containers necessarily scrapped? No. They may be held, awaiting packing or recoverable. Confirm their disposition before recording waste.
- What happens if nothing is packed? Yield is zero, the full supplied count remains unpacked and the target margin stays finite.
- Can packed output exceed supplied containers? Not within the same population. Resolve carryover, transfer or cutoff differences before comparing the counts.
- Does this report packing speed? No. It reports the accepted fraction of a supplied population, without a time denominator.
