Label Roll Run Time Calculator
Project remaining roll time using measured label depletion. Enter remaining labels, your reserve and total labels consumed during a representative observation window.
What this calculator does
- Estimate time to a label-roll reserve from observed total label consumption.
Formula used
- Usable labels = MAX(Remaining labels − Reserved labels, 0)
- Observed consumption rate = Total labels consumed ÷ Observation minutes
- Time to reserve = Usable labels × Observation minutes ÷ Observed labels consumed
Inputs explained
- Labels Remaining on Roll: Whole remaining labels from the roll inventory or counter.
- Reserved Labels: Labels held back before the planned roll-change point.
- Observed Total Roll Consumption: All labels withdrawn during the observation, including losses and splices.
- Consumption Observation Time: Elapsed observation window corresponding to total roll consumption.
How to use the result
- Best suited to label roll change planning, observed consumable depletion.
- Stops, speed changes and a different labeling pattern change the projection.
Common questions
- Can I use only the good-product counter? No. Use total labels consumed, including rejected applications, splices and setup waste, to represent actual roll depletion.
- What if the reserve exceeds remaining labels? Time to reserve and usable labels are zero because the roll is already at or below the chosen reserve.
- Does this account for a future speed increase? Only if your observation represents that pace. Recalculate using a comparable consumption window when speed or labeling changes.
- Why must observed consumption be positive? A positive depletion observation is needed to project time to reserve; zero consumption does not establish a finite depletion time.
