Refill Feed Interruption Time Calculator
Quantify actual feed interruptions associated with hopper refills. Enter event count, measured no-feed time, normal feed rate and the observation window.
What this calculator does
- Quantify actual feed interruptions associated with hopper refills.
Formula used
- Feed-stop minutes = Refill events × Seconds stopped ÷ 60
- Unfed mass = Feed-stop minutes × Normal kg/hr ÷ 60
- Stop share % = Feed-stop minutes × 100 ÷ (Window hours × 60)
Inputs explained
- Observed Refill Events: Whole refills in the recorded production period.
- Feed Stop per Refill: Measured average time with no feeding during each refill.
- Feed Rate During Normal Operation: Normal material delivery rate outside refill interruptions.
- Production Observation Window: Elapsed hours containing all counted refill events.
How to use the result
- Best suited to refill stop investigations, feeding continuity reviews.
- Refill-related accuracy excursions without a feed stop are not downtime.
Common questions
- Should the whole refill duration be counted? Only count the interval when feeding actually stops. Many feeders continue delivering material while the hopper refills.
- What if every refill takes a different time? Use total observed no-feed seconds divided by event count.
- Is the unfed mass lost production? It is delivery omitted during the stops. A process may recover that mass later.
- Can zero interruptions still cause quality issues? Yes. Volumetric refill operation or pressure disturbances may affect flow accuracy while feeding continues.
