Weighing, Dosing & Loss-in-Weight Feeding calculator
Measured Feeder Rate Calculator
Measure feeder mass flow from a timed catch test. Enter net collected kilograms, elapsed minutes and the recipe feed-rate setpoint.
What this calculator does
- Measure feeder mass flow from a timed catch test.
Formula used
- Measured rate = Collected mass × 60 ÷ Test minutes
- Rate error = Measured rate − Required rate
- Target catch = Required rate × Test minutes ÷ 60
Inputs explained
- Collected Feed Mass: Net catch weight from the timed feeder test.
- Catch Test Duration: Elapsed time across the complete catch test.
- Required Feed Rate: Recipe mass-flow setpoint for the tested operating condition.
How to use the result
- Best suited to feeder catch tests, recipe rate verification.
- One average catch does not establish short-term flow stability.
Common questions
- Should the container weight be included? No. Tare the container or subtract its empty mass.
- Can I sample during hopper refill? Include refill only when the test is intended to represent that operating phase; record the phase with the result.
- Is this dosing accuracy? It is average mass flow. Compare individual batch doses separately when batch accuracy is the question.
- Does a matching average prove stable flow? No. Opposing flow excursions can cancel in a long catch test.
