Two-Ingredient Recipe Cost Calculator
Cost a recipe containing one additive and one base ingredient. Enter final mass, additive mass share, both purchase prices and separate processing cost.
What this calculator does
- Cost a recipe containing one additive and one base ingredient.
Formula used
- Ingredient A mass = Batch mass × A share % ÷ 100
- Ingredient B mass = Batch mass − Ingredient A mass
- Batch cost = A mass × A price + B mass × B price + Processing
- Cost per kg = Batch cost ÷ Batch mass
Inputs explained
- Final Recipe Mass: Combined net mass of the two recipe ingredients.
- Ingredient a Mass Share: Ingredient A percentage of final recipe mass.
- Ingredient a Price: Landed purchase price for ingredient A.
- Ingredient B Price: Landed purchase price for the remaining base ingredient.
- Additional Batch Processing Cost: Batch cost excluded from ingredient purchase prices.
How to use the result
- Best suited to additive cost comparisons, base resin recipe budgets.
- Scrap, moisture change and ingredient potency are excluded.
Common questions
- Can ingredient A be zero percent? Yes. The batch then consists entirely of ingredient B.
- Where do three or more ingredients go? Use a full ingredient costing worksheet; this model deliberately represents only two ingredients.
- Can processing cost include ingredient freight? Only if it is excluded from the ingredient prices; count each charge once.
- Does this account for moisture loss? No. Both ingredient quantities and final batch mass use a common unchanged mass basis.
