Weighing, Dosing & Loss-in-Weight Feeding calculator
Batch Weight Tolerance Window Calculator
Check a batch weight against a symmetric recipe tolerance. Enter the measured net weight, nominal target and allowed deviation in kilograms.
What this calculator does
- Check a batch weight against a symmetric recipe tolerance.
Formula used
- Lower limit = Target − Allowed deviation
- Upper limit = Target + Allowed deviation
- Nearest margin = Allowed deviation − Abs(Measured weight − Target)
Inputs explained
- Measured Net Batch Weight: Tared batch weight from the calibrated scale.
- Nominal Batch Target: Recipe target for this batch.
- Allowed Deviation Each Side: Symmetric absolute mass tolerance from the batch specification.
How to use the result
- Best suited to batch weight release, recipe cutoff reviews.
- Asymmetric specifications require separate upper and lower checks.
Common questions
- Is tolerance a percentage? No. Enter kilograms allowed on each side of the target.
- Can the lower limit be negative? No. The allowed deviation cannot exceed the positive target mass.
- What does zero margin mean? The measured batch is exactly on one entered numerical limit.
- Does being inside the band authorize release? Use your release procedure, including measurement uncertainty and any other batch quality requirements.
