Dosing Quality Loss Cost Calculator
Cost a documented dosing-quality scrap event. Enter rejected product mass, accumulated manufacturing cost, verified salvage credit and additional disposition expenses.
What this calculator does
- Cost a documented dosing-quality scrap event.
Formula used
- Gross scrap cost = Scrapped product kg × Accumulated cost per kg
- Net scrap cost = Gross scrap cost − Salvage credit
- Quality loss = Net scrap cost + Investigation and disposition
Inputs explained
- Dosed Product Scrapped: Net finished or intermediate product rejected for dosing quality.
- Accumulated Product Cost: Manufacturing cost already incurred per scrapped kilogram.
- Verified Total Salvage Credit: Realizable recovery value after any unentered recovery charges.
- Investigation and Disposition Cost: Additional event expense excluded from accumulated product cost.
How to use the result
- Best suited to dosing scrap disposition, quality cost reviews.
- Lost future sales, recalls and customer penalties are outside this event scope.
Common questions
- Should ingredient overfeed be added again? No, when it is already included in the scrapped product cost. Avoid counting the same material twice.
- Can reworked product be treated as fully scrapped? Use only the actual unrecoverable cost and incremental rework expense for a rework case.
- Why can net scrap cost be negative? The entered salvage exceeds accumulated scrap cost; review the credit and cost basis before reporting it.
- Is product selling price the correct unit cost? Use incurred manufacturing cost here. Lost contribution from unrecovered sales is a separate economic effect.
