Weighing, Dosing & Loss-in-Weight Feeding calculator
Feeder Shift Mass Capacity Calculator
Check whether a feeder can deliver the required ingredient mass in a shift. Enter qualified sustained flow, net feeding hours and the required mass.
What this calculator does
- Check whether a feeder can deliver the required ingredient mass in a shift.
Formula used
- Shift capacity = Qualified sustained kg/hr × Net feeding hours
- Capacity margin = Shift capacity − Required ingredient mass
Inputs explained
- Qualified Sustained Feed Rate: Proven sustained mass flow for this material and setup.
- Net Available Feeding Time: Scheduled hours after stops that interrupt actual feeding.
- Required Ingredient Delivery: Ingredient mass needed in the same production window.
How to use the result
- Best suited to ingredient shift planning, feeder capacity reviews.
- Does not establish torque, minimum feed rate or short-term dosing accuracy.
Common questions
- Should hopper refill always be subtracted? Subtract only time that interrupts feeding; continuous-feed refill is already part of a demonstrated sustained rate.
- Can I use a catalog maximum? Only if it is qualified for your material, screw arrangement and required accuracy.
- What happens when the qualified rate or available time is zero? Available capacity is zero. Any positive required mass appears as a delivery shortfall; zero required mass gives a zero margin.
- Can parallel feeders be combined? Sum their independently qualified mass rates when they can operate simultaneously into the same process.
